PRIVACY

Your privacy, plainly.

How this website uses browser preferences and optional audience measurement.

Saved stories and reading preferences

Saved stories, your program watchlist, favorite fictional endings, answers to optional article questions, daily laugh-break completion and reading text size use local storage in your browser. They are not an account or a public profile. Remove saved items individually or use the button below to clear these reading preferences.

Google Analytics 4

On thecomedyedit.com and www.thecomedyedit.com, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand visits, popular articles, engagement and referral campaigns such as Facebook Reels. Google may process page and device information, referral information and approximate location, and use analytics cookies to measure visits. Our integration disables Google Signals and advertising personalization signals. No AdSense integration is added by this update.

We do not deliberately send names, email addresses, administrator data, quiz answers, article-question answers or saved fictional endings to Analytics. Our initial page address sent to Analytics keeps only the page path and supported UTM campaign parameters; it removes other query parameters and URL fragments. Our referrer override sends only the referring origin.

Alongside page measurement, we send limited events for reading an article for about 60 visible seconds, clicking a related story and completing a laugh break. These describe participation, not the text of an answer or a saved ending.

Your analytics choice

Cloudflare estimates your country from the connection address. We use only a broad region to choose our analytics notice; we do not ask for GPS access or store a precise location in this preference. Estimates may be affected by VPNs and network routing. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, optional Analytics waits for your acceptance. For US visits, Analytics is on unless you turn it off, and a notice explains your choices. Elsewhere, or when a location cannot be determined, Analytics waits for acceptance as a precaution. This is our measurement configuration, not a statement that every region has the same legal requirements.

Privacy settings load when the integration is enabled.

Analytics does not run on admin screens, draft previews, API responses or local/Workers preview hostnames. Choose Privacy & cookie settings in the footer, or use the button above, to change your choice. We also disable Analytics when your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal. Turning it off stops this integration and attempts to remove accessible Analytics cookies; if the SDK was already loaded, the page reloads to stop its automatic listeners. Choices are saved for up to 180 days on this browser. Clearing storage or changing browsers resets the choice; if storage is blocked, it lasts for this page only. Advertising storage, advertising user data and ad personalization stay denied. This notice controls our Analytics integration only. It does not create or send a certified IAB TCF or GPP consent record for advertising. Before adding AdSense, the publisher must configure Google-certified advertising consent and applicable US privacy messages separately.

Short links and hosting

Short links redirect directly to a story. Their server counter counts successful redirect requests, including possible link-preview bots; it is not a unique-visitor count and differs from Analytics. The hosting provider may process technical information to deliver and secure the site. Administrator authentication and editorial content are stored by the hosting platform separately from public reading preferences.
